Antares Meketa

Product Manager

A drummer and videogame enthusiast, Antares Meketa comes to MeYou Health with extensive experience designing, developing, and releasing web applications, along with an array of knowledge about web systems and technologies, and a particular fondness for Linux and Ruby on Rails. Antares calls himself a "pragmatic perfectionist," focusing on quality and eagerly describing MeYou Health as a way to make your life better, one fun step at a time.

With past experience as a Senior Engineer at GamerDNA, Antares helped design and build several features of their consumer product, including a content recommendation system and rich social media integration. Before that, at the National Writing Project, he advised on high-level development strategies and led many development projects, building a suite of external and internal web products. A great asset to the MeYou Health development team, Antares admits to once collecting videogame paraphernalia and Sleater-Kinney posters — none of which hang in the office (yet).

When asked, Antares will tell you he's always carried a propensity to understand technology. That attribute served him well at the University of California, Berkeley, where he studied Theoretical Mathematics, and became forever known as "the math guy" to his friends and colleagues. The need there to try to explain abstract concepts is perhaps the reason why his most overused phrase is "in some sense." Either way, Antares is rightfully the go-to person for explaining the set-theoretical foundation of mathematics, whatever that means.

More about Antares:

  • most productive when: caffeinated and listening to Polysics in his headphones
  • is daydreaming of a vaca in: Saint Petersburg and/or Hawaii
  • enjoys endless hours of: watching terrible action movies on basic cable
  • wouldn't be caught wearing: a canadian tuxedo, white socks or shorts
  • is motivated by: talented people
  • finds inspiration in: contemplation
  • totally geeks out over: music, coffee and videogames
  • would take these 3 things to a desert island: a drumset, a portable videogame system & a yacht
  • fave websites/blogs to read: Joystiq, Engadget, Kotaku, Railscasts
  • is weak in the knees for: bands with strong female vocalists, occasional dissonance & solid rock sensibilities
