The best piece of advice I received came from a tobacco cessation therapist about 6 weeks into my quit:
Learn how to hit the pause button.
Too often, we have knee jerk reactions, and that is what gets us into trouble! Learn how to hit the pause button. Take a moment and a breath so that you can see the situation for what it really is. Use that moment to take control instead of falling victim to your addiction.

Take a deep breath, now exhale. Do it one more time. Never ever take that for granted.
